PHOTO magazine – Tribute to Agnès Grégoire

11 October to 10 November 2024

Tribute to Agnès Grégoire

PHOTO magazine has created passions. That of the founders of the legendary Visa pour l’Image photojournalism festival, and by extension that of Michel Tremblay, creator of the Zoom Photo Festival. That of Agnès Grégoire too, who was its soul for 35 years. PHOTO is 57 years of photography history and iconic covers by Albert Watson, David Bailey, Dominique Issermann, William Klein, David LaChapelle, Bettina Rheims… With each and every one, PHOTO has a history of complicity and loyalty. As editor-in-chief, Agnès Grégoire helped make the French magazine THE international reference that it remains today. Respecting the greats and the vision of the emerging ones, she has imbued these pages with her audacity. Publishing Steven Meisel’s very “sexy” Madonna, denouncing the war in Syria with Goran Tomasevic or titling “Should we be afraid of AI” at a time when the world was panicking. From No. 1 with Catherine Deneuve by David Bailey to No. 561 with Angèle by Mathieu César, PHOTO’s passion has not finished creating icons.

Exhibition presented within the framework of the Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay.
