Gaza: “We Did What We Could”
TESTIMONIES OF THE HORROR OF DAILY LIFE IN GAZA
In Gaza, the border symbolizes the separation between two humanities, reinforced by a blockade that deprives the population of everything, even to the point of starvation. This exhibition, in partnership with Doctors Without Borders (MSF), looks back on nearly two years of terror in Gaza, under bombs and isolated from the world. “We Did What We Could” refers to the words written
on a board in Al Awda Hospital by an MSF doctor on October 20, 2023, who was killed a month later. For two years, photographers in the enclave have risked their lives to document the destruction, while access to outside media remains prohibited. Towards the Jordan river, the West Bank is also experiencing an escalation of violence that complicates access to healthcare. These images, taken by photographers, doctors, nurses and MSF staff on the front lines, show us the work of all those who fight every day to keep the heart of Gaza beating.
Exhibition presented within the framework of the Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay.
