Dubuc – King of Pulp

23 June 2026

From Sherbrooke, In 1892, a region full of promise draws Julien-Édouard-Alfred Dubuc: the Saguenay region. Over the course of his life as a banker, businessman, accomplished industrialist, and committed politician, he plays a defining role in shaping the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region as we know it today.

As the driving force behind modern Chicoutimi, his story is that of a French-Canadian who rises to prominence in the global wood pulp industry, supplying newsprint production in the United States and Europe.

Through a captivating journey, meet an exceptional man, guided by a vision: to dream and shape a region. Discover the life and legacy of this remarkable man, known as the “King of Pulp.” Artifacts, documents and immersive projections trace the journey of this visionary man, whose imprint can still be found today in several places in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
