Stories of drought
While a drought affects the entire Horn of Africa, northern Kenya is suffering five consecutive rainy seasons with lower than normal rainfall and higher temperatures. More than nine million Kenyans are pastoralists, out of a total population of 53 million. They own livestock worth over US$1 billion, and their way of life is now at stake. In Marsabit, in the north of the country, the disastrous consequences of climate change are visible on the faces, on the cracked earth, on the carcasses of animals abandoned on the side of the road.
Adrienne Surprenant
Born in 1992, Adrienne Surprenant is a Canadian photographer. After studying photography at Dawson College, she affirms her documentary writing by working on long-term subjects in Nicaragua (2014-2015), then between Cameroon and the Central African Republic (2015 to 2021). She hopes to show situations in their complexity, to confront the public with them in a nuanced, honest and empathetic way. Adrienne joined the MYOP Agency in 2022.
